Standard D&D dice

Tabletop RPGs use polyhedral dice sets with four, six, eight, ten, twelve, and twenty sides. The d20 drives attack rolls, saving throws, and ability checks in D&D 5e. Damage often uses d4 through d12 depending on the weapon or spell. Percentile checks use d100 (or two d10s).

  • Initiative: 1d20 + Dexterity modifier
  • Longsword attack: 1d20 + attack bonus

Frequently asked questions

What dice can I roll?

Dice Cove supports all standard polyhedral dice used in D&D: d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20, and d100. You can also roll any custom die from 2 to 1,000 sides using notation like 3d37.

How does dice notation work?

Dice notation uses the format NdS, where N is the number of dice and S is the number of sides. Examples: 1d20 is one twenty-sided die, 3d6 rolls three six-sided dice, and 4d6dl1 rolls four d6 and drops the lowest — the classic D&D ability score method.

How do advantage and disadvantage work?

Roll 2d20kh1 for advantage (roll two d20, keep the highest) or 2d20kl1 for disadvantage (keep the lowest). You can also use the Advantage and Disadvantage presets for one-click rolling.

Can I save my roll setup?

Yes. Enable "Save setup" in the roll log section and your notation, modifier, and roll lines are stored locally in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server.

Does this work on mobile?

Yes. The dice roller is fully responsive and works on phones and tablets — tap any die in the quick tray or use roll lines for complex setups during your game.
